This past month, the Breakaway & Restraint Specialists Ltd (BRS) team has been on the move, delivering training sessions across the UK—from the highlands of Scotland to Ebbw Vale in Wales, and from the coastal city of Portsmouth to the seaside town of Clacton-on-Sea.
In Scotland, we conducted a Train the Trainer refresher course for an organisation that specialises in educating teachers. This session was an opportunity to update trainers on the latest techniques and legislation, practice methods, and fine-tune their teaching skills.
Nick Attard, General Manager says: "At BRS Ltd, we believe in building lasting partnerships with our clients. These relationships allow us to schedule regular refresher courses for their trainers, ensuring they remain up-to-date with the latest techniques and legislative changes. This ongoing collaboration not only enhances the trainers' skills but also reinforces our shared commitment to safety and excellence."

At a university in Ebbw Vale, we provided training for students preparing to enter the nursing field. Our aim was to equip these future healthcare professionals with the confidence and skills to handle aggressive situations they might encounter in their careers.
In Portsmouth, we delivered a specialised course on weapon disarming, addressing the unfortunate reality that weapons are increasingly present in various environments. According to the British Retail Consortium, there has been a significant rise in weapon-related incidents in workplaces, with over 70 incidents involving weapons occurring daily.
Reflecting on the extensive travel, General Manager Nick Attard shared, "While the travel can be demanding, our trainers approach it with good humour. Hotel stops provide an excellent opportunity for our team to refine their content over coffee and a breakfast"
Looking ahead, BRS remains committed to promoting safety in the workplace and confidence for frontline, healthcare and education workers across the UK. We are excited about our upcoming training sessions and the opportunity to make a positive impact in various communities.
